At Lasercraft, we are incredibly proud of our hospitality team for going above and beyond by volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program. Twice a week, they roll up their sleeves to deliver meals to people in need, all while developing valuable skills and building meaningful connections within the community.
This initiative is much more than just delivering food. It’s about growth, learning, and giving back. Through this partnership with Meals on Wheels Central Coast, our employees gain hands-on experience that boosts their confidence and resilience. They take on real responsibilities such as packing and unpacking the van, adhering to food handling and hygiene standards, and mastering customer service through a specific delivery “spiel.” It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about another business’s processes while adapting and integrating into their system.
The program also offers a chance for our employees to overcome challenges and build self-confidence. For example, Andrew, one of our supported employees, shared: “It’s pretty fun helping out the community, delivering meals to people who can’t get out.” His enthusiasm captures the true spirit of the initiative that it’s not just about logistics; it’s about making a positive impact in people’s lives.
Lisa, one of our outstanding support workers, adds, “I’m incredibly proud of how the team lifts each other up. After every delivery, they always take a moment to congratulate one another. It’s truly inspiring to see such positive encouragement and teamwork!” The sense of camaraderie is evident, with everyone supporting each other to do their best.
We’re also thrilled to see how this program helps with disability employment opportunities. While some team members initially faced social anxiety, the support and strategies implemented by Lisa have led to remarkable progress. The growth in confidence has been inspiring, and we are so proud of the positive changes in our employees.
Each team member proudly wears their Meals on Wheels lanyard and Lasercraft hi-vis vest. Their commitment and professionalism shine through, reflecting the high quality of work they put into every delivery.
This initiative is a win-win: our employees are gaining invaluable skills while giving back to the community and helping those in need. It’s a beautiful way to connect Lasercraft with the wider community.
A special congratulations goes to Lisa for her leadership and dedication in bringing this program to life. We’re so proud of the entire team for their hard work and enthusiasm.
